UX Content Workshop: How to Write for Users Who Aren’t Reading

UX Content Workshop: How to Write for Users Who Aren’t Reading

Presented by UX South Carolina at SOCO 80808

You may have heard it before: No one reads online. And while that’s true, it’s only half a thought. That’s because digital content is not something you read, it’s something you do. With very few exceptions, your users are scanning and skimming your site or app for the words they need to get things done. Any other content, no matter how engaging or well-written, they will utterly ignore.

A NEW APPROACH TO DIGITAL CONTENT
This truth about how humans interact with interactive words online means we should write for the web very differently than we would write for any traditional medium. To create effective, usable interactive and micro copy, you must forget everything you know about writing and start from the beginning. This workshop will teach you how.

PARTICIPANTS WILL…
• Look at common content pitfalls.
• Learn techniques and best practices for writing digital content.
• Write their own interactive and micro copy.
• Understand how to incorporate content as part of their overall usability planning process.

COST
FREE and open to the public.
