Words and Wine will be featuring author Steve Gordy on March 17; 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Enjoy a presentation and book signing with Steve, music with Ken & Igor, wine, and refreshments. Open to the public.
Steve Gordy is an apprentice writer living in Aiken, South Carolina – the latest stop on his personal odyssey through nine states and one foreign country.
He grew up in a small town in the Florida Panhandle and attended the University of Florida. He got a fellowship to pursue an advanced degree in history at Yale University. However, he only put that degree to use when he taught at Piedmont Technical College from 2010 through 2016, after a thirty-five year career in government, nonprofits, and business. He spent most of his career as an industrial trainer, training manager, and technical writer in the electrical power and chemical process industries. He is retired from the Savannah River Site.
In 2003, he felt the calling to do something different with his life. That led him to join the South Carolina Writers Workshop (now the South Carolina Writers Association). He’s been active in SCWA ever since, serving as a chapter leader and a member of the state board of directors for four years. He’s had numerous pieces published by SCWW/SCWA and by the Savannah Writers Group. In 2015, he was runner-up in the Carrie McCray award competition for best first chapter of a novel, losing out to his friend Sasscer Hill. From that experience, he wrote his first novel, Faith, Hope, and Dr. Vangelis, which was published in 2019.
