COLUMBIA, S.C. –  South Carolina artist Alicia Leeke’s solo exhibition entitled “Color Fusion” opens at The Good Life Café August 3, 2015 and will run through August 31.

For some, painting is about line and shape, but for Leeke, this show is about the study of color and movement and her theory of color. This grouping of diverse works, spanning from 2005-2015, is linked aesthetically to each other solely by color. The viewer’s sensory contemplation or appreciation of these works should be viewed though the eyes of a colorist painter where the use of intense color becomes the dominant feature of the resulting work of art therefore becoming more important than its other qualities. This tendency in painting was foreshadowed by French Impressionism in the late 19th century and came to prominence in the work of the Fauvists in the early 20th century, later followed by the American abstract Color Field painters.
