A Hiroshima Peace Vigil will be held on the 70th anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The Vigil will be held on August 6th from 7 to 8 pm in the Columbia Museum of Art Auditorium, 1515 Main Street, Columbia.
This is also the 25th year that the event has been held in Columbia to remember the first use of the atomic bomb and to promote efforts to ensure that the atomic horror is never repeated.
The Hiroshima Peace Vigil will feature a string quartet from the South Carolina Philharmonic and Morihiko Nakahara, Music Director.
The event is sponsored by the Columbia Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and by Carolina Peace Resource Center.
All are welcome to the interfaith vigil, which is part of First Thursday on Main.
