Say it with me now Beautiful People…Blue Note Poetry is BACK TO ATTACK with another incredible showcase of blues and Spoken Word comin’ atcha December 17th!!! This time we’ll be featuring award winning poet extraordinaire El’Ja along with a healthy dose of lyrical wizardry from local femcee Milah! Of course the legendary Vasaboo Group will be back in the building with the smooth and sultry moves and grooves, and we’ll be waitin’ to see what YOU have cookin’ on the always unpredictable Open Mic. It all goes down 7:30pm @ The White Mule December 17th (yes we start AND end on time lol), so come thru and bring eeerrrrrrvery body in your lovely crew!!!

Artist Bios

El’Ja

El’Ja is a poet, author, and motivational speaker. He is best known for his work, So Many Things to Say: A Collection of Poems. El’Ja has performed in poetry slams across the nation. He has been recognized as the first North Carolina poet to compete and win three poetry slams in three different cities (Fayetteville, Charlotte, and Durham). El’Ja was been nominated as the Spoken Word Artist of the Year and is the recipient of the 2016 Rising Star Male Poet Award for North Carolina and the 2016 GANSPA award. El’Ja is also one of the founders and the director of the Southeastern Regional North Carolina Festival held in Fayetteville, NC.

Milah

Miah is a Rapper/Singer/Songwriter born in Columbia, SC with a style best described as a fusion of laid back and upbeat vibes. Milah believes in expressing personal experiences through storytelling in her music. She delivers a mixture of a nostalgia and rawness that always keeps her listeners in engaged. She has been featured in Cre Speaks Media’s We Can All Eat Showcase, The Free Times Music Crawl, B.I.N.A.C.T.’S The Glow Up, Jenesys Entertainment’s Hip-Hop Pride in the Soda City, Nakia Jade’s 2nd Annual Blazin’ the Mic and more! Her biggest musical influences include Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Drake.

Admission Info

Tickets for general admission are only $5 and are currently on sale. They can be purchased on Eventbrite using the link below, or at the door during showtime. There is limited seating, so it is highly recommended that attendees arrive early!
