Celebrating 10,000 Trees & Columbia Green Day

Celebrating 10,000 Trees & Columbia Green Day

Presented by Columbia Green at Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park

The public is invited to join Columbia Green in celebration of the planting of our 10,000th tree in partnership with the City of Columbia and Mayor Stephen Benjamin’s proclamation of November 7, 2019 as Columbia Green Day!

Celebrants will enjoy live music with a local cover band The Ballous Brothers, and live painting by local artists Lucas Sams and Michael Krajewski. Paintings will be up for auction with proceeds to benefit Columbia Green’s two grant programs – The Neighborhood Grant and the Tree Initiative Grant. Carolina Cookin\’ Food Truck and The Chillin Cow will be there with a variety of food, drinks and desserts available for purchase.

Mayor Benjamin will attend and take part in the actual planting of a 14-foot Live Oak to celebrate the conclusion of the non-profit organization’s 10,000 tree project. “Making Columbia more beautiful enhances the quality of life for its citizens and visitors and in turn helps to support community and economic development. We are excited to celebrate this tree planting with Mayor Benjamin and the greater Columbia community,” notes Susan Thorpe, President of Columbia Green.

Trace Ballou, Event Chair notes that “The celebration is an exciting fall event that is perfect for all ages. The tree planting party will take place rain or shine.”
