Join Columbia Baroque as we celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the birth of Barbara Strozzi, one of the first great women composers, with a program of beautiful Italian and German music.
Columbia Baroque celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the birth of Barbara Strozzi, one of the first great women composers, with a program of beautiful Italian and German music that includes a Strozzi sacred song; Vivaldi’s captivating trio for lute, violin, and continuo; a Telemann quartet; an imitation of Polish bagpipes for violins by Schmelzer; plus spirited dances and seasonal carols by Praetorius.
Performers for the evening are Brittnee Siemon, mezzo-soprano; Jean Hein, baroque recorder; Mary Hostetler Hoyt, baroque violin; Erika Cutler, baroque violin; Hazel Ketchum, lute, soprano; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; and Jerry Curry, harpsichord.
Concert Conversations begin at 7:00 pm with Sarah F. Williams followed by the performance at 7:30 pm.
Tickets are $15 tickets in advance; $20 at the door; All students free with ID.
