South Carolina artist Alicia Leeke is making her mark in landscape paintings with a new body of expressionistic works of art this month at City Art in Columbia, South Carolina.

The opening is October 17, 2019 from 5 – 7 pm at City Art Gallery in downtown Columbia’s Vista area located at 1224 Lincoln Street in Columbia, SC 29201. The gallery is located directly across from the back side of the Blue Marlin restaurant. The show runs through November 16, 2019.

Leeke also teaches Introductory and Intermediate Painting as well as Introduction to Abstract Painting and Collage classes. Painting in the Style of Van Gogh Class Friday, November 8, 2019 is offered from 10:30 – 4:30 in the upstairs classroom at City Art for $125. Bring your own lunch.

These contemporary landscapes incorporate a variety of mark-making that range from textural works on canvas to soft atmospheric works of art leaving the viewer’s imagination to finish the painting.

Most art viewers love to look at paintings from about 16 inches from the wall, but Leeke encourages viewing her paintings both up close and from several feet back as you would view a large Monet, Van Gogh or Joan Mitchell work of art in a museum.
