Africa University Choir in Concert
Red Bank United Methodist Church June 16th
A world-class and globally touring vocal ensemble will be appearing in the Midlands on June 16th, when the Africa University Choir will present a concert of sacred choral music in their own harmonic and rhythmic style.
The choir consists of fifteen choir members from eight different African countries (DRC, Angola, Mozambique, Liberia, Zambia, Uganda, Burundi and Zimbabwe) led by director Tendekai Kuture.
The Africa University Choir sings in at least 20 African languages as well as English, French and Portuguese. The Choir has also had the opportunity to travel extensively across the United States and Germany in past tours.
The concert will take place at Red Bank United Methodist Church in Lexington on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00 p.m.
About Africa University
Located just outside the eastern highlands city of Mutare in Zimbabwe, Africa University is a private, international higher education institution founded in March 1992 by the United Methodist Church worldwide. The University welcomes students from all the nations of Africa without regard for race, class, ethnicity and political or religious affiliation.
At Africa University, undergraduate and graduate programmes as well as short courses are offered in areas such as agriculture, business and public administration, education, health sciences, the humanities and social sciences, peace, leadership and governance and theology. The University’s total full-time enrolment is around 1200 students each year.
This is a free show, but a love offering will be collected that will go to the choir.
