Peer Critique Happy Hour (Part 6)

Peer Critique Happy Hour (Part 6)

at Unknown

Every other Wednesday, Tapp’s is hosting an informal evening of drinks and constructive discussion about your peers’ artwork. This is an effort to foster community, possibile collaboration, but most importantly, peer review. You do not have to show work to participate, but we do want you to be active in the discussion.

Informal peer critique allows artists to externalize compositional and conceptual thinking, changing the platform of self-reflection and fostering activation from a community of practice. Tapp’s wants to build this community of peers to strengthen Columbia’s creative class. We plan on doing so by providing a central space to develop a collective critical analysis of art.

Please note: We want a serious (but fun) review. We don’t want to tell people that their artwork is ‘pretty’, or ‘interesting’ (we know we’ve got a whole city of talent already), we want to challenge artists to push the boundaries of their creative practice. We want artists to be charged with a spectrum of emotions at the end of the night [anger, lust, determination, inspiration, happiness…], so that in two weeks, they come back with something into which we can really sink our teeth.

Bring work in any media, and make this routine, your insight can only help someone become a better artist.
