The Trenholm Artists Guild’s 9th Annual Fall Juried Exhibit

Presented by Trenholm Artists Guild (TAG) at Still Hopes Retirement Community Gallery

The Trenholm Artists Guild’s 9th Annual Fall Juried Exhibit will be held from August 5 – September 27th, at Still Hopes Retirement Community, West Columbia, SC.

Charleston artist Dorothy Netherland will judge the show. Awards will be presented at the opening reception on Thursday, August 8th, 6-8 PM with the awards ceremony at 7:15. The public is invited.

Originally from Alexandria, VA, Netherland received a BA in Studio Art from the College of Charleston in 2000. Her work was represented in the 2004 South Carolina Triennial at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, and in Studio Visits, in 2007 at the Greenville County Museum of Art, as well in two Contemporary Charleston Piccolo Spoleto Festival exhibitions, in 2004 and 2009. In 2011, she participated in an artist’s residency in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, Germany, which concluded with a group exhibition. Also in 2011, she was named Artist of the Year of the contemporaries of the Columbia Museum of Art. In 2012 she had solo exhibitions at both Georgia College and Mercer University.

Her work was included in two of E. Ashley Rooney’s books, 100 Southern Artists and Artists’ Homes and Studios, from 2012 and 2014. In 2013, Netherland’s work was selected for inclusion in the South Carolina Biennial at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, an exhibition overview of the best of South Carolina contemporary art. In 2014 she was invited to show her work at Mississippi University for Women in the exhibition Intersections of Gender and Place. Her new work was exhibited in her solo show, FanGirl, at The Southern in Charleston, SC, in fall ’17. Most recently she exhibited at the ROB at ArtFields in May ’18. She is represented by If ART, Columbia, SC.

The show will include two and three-dimensional art pieces created by many renowned midlands area artists. Patty Gamberg’s piece, “Family Portrait,” won Best of Show in 2018. Other recent top award winners of TAG’s juried shows include Rachel Myers, Joong Bae Kim, Maureen Baird, Michael McGuirt, Meg McLean, Pete Holland, Karen Langley, and Denise Greer.

Trenholm Artists Guild, also known as TAG, has a membership of over 150. The group includes both amateur and professional artists who work in all media. Established in 1971, TAG is an incorporated, non-profit organization located in Columbia, South Carolina. It is designated an IRS 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization.
