Guest Artist, Hazel Ketchum, lutenist, returns to Columbia Baroque for this extravaganza concert of music by Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Schmelzer, and more. The program features a recently discovered Telemann Fantasia for solo gamba in which Gail Ann Schroeder is featured. Improvvisato! refers to Italian-style ornamentation where performers improvise flourishes and embellishments that add beauty and personal expression to the music.
Performers for the evening are Hazel Ketchum, lute and soprano; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; Brittnee Siemon, mezzo soprano; Jean Hein, Baroque recorders; Erika Cutler, Baroque violin; Mary Hostetler Hoyt, Baroque violin; and Jerry Curry, harpsichord.
“Concert Conversations” with Peter A. Hoyt begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m.
