Come join Art + Feminism’s international campaign to improve the representation of women artists on Wikipedia!
Did you know that 90 percent of Wikipedia articles are written by men? You can help change that statistic. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the CMA and the University of South Carolina School of Visual Arts and Design join forces as part of the larger Art+Feminism movement to help better represent women and gender non-binary persons on Wikipedia. Kick off the day with Curator Catherine Walworth for Broad Strokes, a tour of women in the CMA collection at 11:00 a.m. Then jump into editing mode from Noon to 3:00 p.m. No prior Wikipedia experience is necessary; we will offer tutorials for beginners, art history reference materials, and extra support. While some laptops will be available, you are encouraged to bring your own laptop, power cord, and extension cord if possible.
Last year, more than 2500 participants created or improved over 6500 articles on Wikipedia. What will we accomplish this year? #artandfeminism #noweditingaf #AF5 #WomensHistoryMonth
Tour free with membership or admission. Edit-a-thon free.
