Alternative Storytellers is a fine art exhibition featuring work by Susan Lenz, Flavia Lovatelli, and Olga Yukhno and their desires to tell a provocative story through their diverse media. Lenz works primarily in textiles and collage to bring feminist twists to familiar fairy tales. Lovatelli’s paper pieces address environmental issues and shed light on the sources. Yukhno’s ceramics deal with social and political injustices. The show opens on March 7, 2019 during First Thursday at Anastasia & Friends Gallery, 1534 Main Street from 6 – 9 pm. Running through the month, the exhibit will be part of the Deckle Edge Literary Festival on March 23, 2019. As diverse as the media and concepts are, these three artists are tied by friendship, sisterhood, and the spirit of community.
