Opening Reception: Transformations & Translations

Opening Reception: Transformations & Translations

Presented by Richland Library at Richland Library Main

A new, art exhibit is drawing attention to other cultures and states of being. Transformations & Translations goes on display Monday, January 7 in The Gallery at Richland Library.
The work from artists Una Kim and Janet Kozachek features about 40 pieces, consisting of sketches, paintings and mixed media. Each piece emphasizes their personal experiences and travels.
A beautiful and painful glimpse into globalization, the exhibit portrays deep misunderstandings across ethnic and social divides as well as between genders.
There’s an opportunity to meet the artists during an opening reception from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Friday, January 11 at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street). The after-hours event, which is free and open to the public, includes a brief artist talk and poetry reading.
Transformations & Translations, which is sponsored in part by Confucius Institute at the University of South Carolina, runs through Friday, March 29.
