USC Wind Ensemble Concert

Presented by USC School of Music at Koger Center for the Arts

The University of South Carolina Wind Ensemble and bassoonist Michael Harley present the world premiere of Nico Muhly’s Reliable Sources – a brand new bassoon concerto by one of the world’s leading composers. The world premiere performance is part of Nico Muhly’s week-long residency at the USC School of Music and comes on the heels of the Metropolitan Opera’s world premiere of his new opera, Marnie. A highly sought-after composer, Nico Muhly has received commissions from The Metropolitan Opera, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and many others. He has also appeared as himself in a recurring role on the popular show Mozart in the Jungle.

In addition to the new work by Muhly, also on the program are works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Gustav Holst, and Leonard Bernstein. The performance is free and open to the public.
