Phillip Bush Faculty Piano Recital: Piano USA 1918

Phillip Bush Faculty Piano Recital: Piano USA 1918

Presented by University of South Carolina School of Music at School of Music Recital Hall

Phillip Bush performs a program of piano works that convey the full breadth of the “new music” as it was first heard 100 years ago in the United States. The cornerstone of this program is the mammoth “Concord” Sonata of Charles Ives, considered the landmark American piano work of the 20th century and itself a glance backwards from its own time to the New England Transcendentalists of the mid-19th-century. Also included on the program are works from the late 1910s by Arthur Foote, Charles Griffes, Marion Bauer, Henry Cowell and Leo Ornstein.
