FundAble- -- Featuring award winning violinist Gaelynn Lea

Presented by Able South Carolina at 701 Whaley

We are delighted to announce this year’s Fundable performance will be classically trained violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea. She began playing violin 20 years ago after a creative music teacher helped her to adapt a playing style that suits her frame. Gaelynn holds her instrument like a tiny cello and loops her classically trained rhythms and melodies to create a symphonic cacophony that is both glorious in its reach and profoundly introspective.
She has scores of fans with her original songs and experimental takes on traditional fiddle music. Her work most recently won NPR Music’s 2016 Tiny Desk Contest, a competition drawing submissions of original songs from more than 6,000 musicians across the country.

Gaelynn has a congenital disability called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or Brittle Bones Disease. In recent years, she has used her music as a platform to advocate for people with disabilities and to promote positive social change.

All proceeds from Fundable will benefit Able SC. Our Fundable guests will enjoy empowering entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a silent auction, and live music, all while having a fun evening with dedicated individuals who support the independence of people with disabilities. Please join us on November 2 at 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina.
