Research Roundtable: Devine Street

Research Roundtable: Devine Street

Presented by Historic Columbia at Seibels House

Once the heart of the original Shandon neighborhood, Devine Street has since undergone several transformations (including a name change) to become a major corridor of commerce and recreation. One hundred and twenty years ago, Devine Street was considered prime residential real estate due to its newly installed street car line and proximity to a casino, where local citizens held dances regularly. Join Research and Archives Manager Katharine Allen to learn more about Devine Street’s fascinating history. Participants are welcome to bring their lunch to this program.

Get there early and enjoy lunch from local food trucks during the event! Food trucks will be stationed outside the Robert Mills House on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tables and chairs will be set up throughout the gardens – making this the perfect opportunity to spend your lunch break enjoying delicious food and the scenic views of our historic gardens.
