Premier performance for this new choral group for women!
Songs for the Journey is the title of the premier performance of a new choral group in Columbia, the first community group of its kind in our area. Created to meet the specific interests of women who make singing a part of their life’s journey, the ensemble “SHE Sings” will perform its first concert on Tuesday, October 30, at Washington Street United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. The all-volunteer choir of 45 voices began rehearsing in September under the direction of four well-known choral directors, Fredna Lee, Angela Powers, Lillian Quackenbush and Paula Wilson, with Lucinda Shields, accompanist. The program will include songs that reflect a journey that begins with the creation of new life, moves through its everyday rhythms, and ends with a crossing of the bar. Admission is free and donations are gratefully accepted. The local charity for this concert is Killingsworth Home.
