Columbia Baroque Concert, “Vivacious Viols"

Presented by Columbia Baroque at USC School of Music Recital Hall

Our season opening concert features Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba and guest artist Webster Williams, viola da gamba and violone. The concert is presented in honor of Patricia L. Beckler and Myrtle T. Robinson.
Gail Ann Schroeder and Jean Hein are soloists in Telemann’s gorgeous Concerto for Recorder and Viola da Gamba. The program includes Couperin’s exotic Italianate sonata, “La Sultane,” featuring two gambas and two violins. Two of Telemann’s sacantatas sung by Brittnee Siemon with solo recorder and violin obbligatos plus works by Leclair and Finger complete this beautiful program.

Performers for the concert are Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; Webster Williams, viola da gamba and violone; Brittnee Siemon, mezzo-soprano; Jean Hein, Baroque recorder; Mary Hostetler Hoyt, Baroque violin and viola; Erika Cutler, Baroque violin; and Jerry Curry , harpsichord.

“Concert Conversations” with Sarah F. Williams is presented at 7:00 pm followed by the performance at 7:30 pm.
