THE CONGAREE SWAMPFEST CELEBRATES 16 YEARS OF CULTURE, FOOD AND FUN IN LOWER RICHLAND

Come enjoy a fall celebration of people and nature on

Friday, October 5, 2018 and Saturday, October 6, 2018


The ever popular Congaree SwampFest is a unique opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage of Lower Richland County.  The SIXTEENTH annual Congaree SwampFest will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 and Saturday, October 6, 2018.

 

On Friday evening, October 5th, the weekend will begin with an Evening of Down Home BBQ & Blues with Southern Soul at the historic Harriet Barber House, 116 Barberville Loop and Lower Richland Boulevard, off Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins, SC.  Tickets for this fundraiser are available on the official Swampfest website www.congareeswampfest.com. Ticket price includes admission and entertainment. All proceeds will benefit SERCO’s educational programs including the Smithsonian Exhibit, Crossroads:  Changes in Rural America, at the Harriet Barber House in February of 2019.  The event will begin at 6:00 PM and will feature an OYSTER ROAST and PIG PICKIN’.  Starting at 7:00 PM, National acts and bands to be announced.

The celebration continues on Saturday, October 6th, 11:00 AM at the Congaree National Park and the festival site on the yard of Old Mount Moriah Site & Grounds. The host will be Jeffrey Lampkin from WACH Fox 57 & THE BIG DM 101 FM. A wide array of local and national artists (singers, dancers, instrumentalists, etc.), will perform. Activities will run throughout the day, offering FREE admission and a great opportunity for visitors to experience the rich culture of the Lower Richland Heritage Corridor.  FREE shuttle buses will carry visitors from the festival site to the national park. No matter the age or interest, there are activities for everyone!  Bring your family and friends and enjoy a day out in Richland County.

 

FREE parking will be available near the festival site, Old Mount Moriah Site & Grounds, 1000 Old Bluff Road, with some limited free parking in the Congaree National Park, 100 National Park Drive, off Old Bluff Road, Hopkins, SC.
