Enjoy wine and light refreshments, music by Ken Baldwin and Igo Agafonov, a presentation by Mystery Writer Raegan Teller, and a book signing by all four participating authors.
The next Words & Wine – a Monthly Readers & Writers Social — will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Jubilee Circle, 2627 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC, 29205.
The author presenting for August will be Raegan Teller. Before becoming a mystery writer, Raegan Teller was a business writer and copy editor, a marketing manager, an executive coach, a corporate training manager, and an insurance claims adjuster. While in school, she even sold burial vaults. How apropos is that for a mystery writer!
After all this expertise, it wasn’t difficult for Raegan to become part of the mystery writers’ world. She is the author of the Enid Blackwell series: Murder in Madden (honorable mention in the 2017 Writers Digest Award Self-published Book Awards) and The Last Sale. Both Murder in Madden and The Last Sale were inspired by actual cold cases in Richland County. They are available in print and digital formats wherever books are sold, including including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and iBooks. Raegan is a member of Sisters in Crime, an organization that has 3,600 members in 48 countries worldwide, offering networking, advice and support to mystery authors, and the SC Writers Association.
While writing her first novel, Raegan realized her writing is particularly influenced by a handful of writers like John Grisham, Harlan Coben, and Mark Ethridge. What these writers have in common for her is that the protagonists are often ordinary people caught up in events that put them in extraordinary situations. Family dynamics are often a crucial part of a plot, and the murder-and-crime part of their stories is secondary to the emotional turmoil and human heartache that unfold. Similarly written are Raegan’s novels.
Others featured authors in August will be Deborah Elizabeth Wright , Non-fiction; Bentz Kirby, Poetry; and Lisa Anne Cullen, Children.
Books will be available for purchase and personally autographed by the author.
