701 CCA Summer Camp: What Can Create a Print?

This class will explore different printmaking techniques using recycled materials and the final project will be personalized book! The students will learn the basic techniques of relief, monoprint and screenprinting. The class is process oriented, where students will be encouraged to investigate different ways to create a print. Students will
learn to recognize objects in nature and everyday items around them, along with the chemistry of marbleizing and experimenting with bookbinding using repurposed materials. The final project will be combining prints of the week into a unique book.

Instructor: Christy Aitken received her BFA in painting from the Atlanta College of Art. She has taught and mentored home schooled children ages 6-18 in art for 20 years. Ms. Aitken currently works at Brockman Elementary, along with teaching in the after-school program, privately, and holding art camps in her own studio in Columbia.
