Director: Ross McElwee

Filmmaker Ross McElwee initially planned to make a documentary detailing the lingering effects of Sherman’s March on the American South. When his girlfriend breaks up with him shortly before he begins filming, his plans abruptly change. Featuring a key scene in Columbia, McElwee ends up creating a picaresque film about tracing Sherman’s footsteps while looking for love.
