My name is Alan Pearsall. I am an artist born and raised in New England, but
now I reside in Columbia, SC. I create large-scale art and murals. My style is
versatile, but my most popular projects echo the mural styles of the public
works of the thirties and I use the techniques popular with the American
Realist movement. My strength lies in my ability to tell a narrative in my
work. I feel murals are a great way to explain historical events or cultural
experiences. The visual story can reach the young or people of any language
background.
When I work, I involve the locals, as a way of connecting the art to the
community. I use local faces as models and lecture at local schools and
librarys. This is not only be positive learning experience for kids, but will
hopefully instill a sence of pride in the local community by creating a lasting
message to future generations.
Murals are an inexpensive way to make a monumental artwork. I’ve created
public art in New England and across the country with large budgets and
extreme weather and surface conditions. My skills as a graphic designer can
be an asset for fundraising, the promomtion of the event and documentation
of the mural process.
Thank you for your consideration.
