About USC Dance Company
The dance program at the University of South Carolina, founded by Susan Anderson, has had a history of excellence for 30 years. The University's dance program specializes in ballet with an offering of over 75 courses. With majors in Performance and Choreography and Teacher Certification, the Dance program provides specialized career training, striving to instill a sound foundation of guided practice in the disciplines and principles of classical ballet, modern, jazz and related academic course work. The dance program attracts a cosmopolitan enrollment of students from across the country and abroad. Our performance companies are designed to challenge gifted undergraduate students, preparing them for professional careers in the field of dance. Alumni are currently dancing professionally, working as dance teachers and administrators in college, universities and other educational and professional organizations. The USC Dance Company performs at the Koger Center for the Arts (1051 Greene St.) and Drayton Hall Theatre (1214 College St.). The Department of Theatre and Dance offers undergraduate majors the BA in theatre or dance, and, at the graduate level, the MFA degree in acting, design or directing, as well as MA and MAT degrees. USC is the only school in South Carolina that offers an MFA in theatre, the highest degree possible in the fields of design and performance.
