This month finds us wrapping up a project we at Saint Michael, along with others like Pleasant Spring AME Church, have been working on for a decade. We’ve been blessed to have caught the attention of a number of generous folks and agencies as we have worked to restore and preserve the Saint Michael African American Cemetery.
In the recent report from the archeologists, it has been determined that there are over 160 potential or probable burials in the cemetery, which would indicate that it was a burial place for the community, not just a family or farm. That community is Saint Michael, and the Lutheran congregation that calls this hilltop their spiritual home.
On November 1, 2026 starting at 2pm, we will be rededicating this sacred space and setting it apart for the benefit of the history of our community. I hope you will join us in celebrating this historic place, especially as we tell the story for generations to come.
2pm Service at the Cemetery
3pm Organ Concert in the Sanctuary
4:30pm Reception and Gathering in the Fellowship Hall.
Pleasant Spring AME Church will be our special guests as they have been our partners in the restoration. I hope you’ll join us!
