Heavy Weighs the King is Carmen Keigans and Brian Whitman, who fronted I Nine — the Columbia band Cameron Crowe put in the closing credits of Elizabethtown before Clive Davis signed them to RCA/J Records. They return with their first full length, Avidyā, ten songs recorded over five years, self-produced and made entirely without AI. Kalen Nash (Ponderosa, Dega) opens. They chose the Big Apple deliberately: 90 years ago this year the 1915 House of Peace Synagogue became the dance hall where Columbia teenagers invented the Big Apple.
