Shamelessly Hot’s Festival of Poe will celebrate all things Poe thru a variety of artistic genres. Come experience the macabre as only Poe can inspire.

Thursday Sept 28th – Tales of Edgar Allen Poe by Lyon Hill and friends. That’s right, the puppet master is back and will treat us to a variety of Poe stories told with the unique views of Lyon Hill and friends.

Friday Sept 29th – Edgar Allen Poe movie night. We will be featuring two Poe movies, a classic and one inspired by a classic. There will also be two teaser performances (by Lula Houp Garou and Taloolah Love) to get you ready for Saturday nights big show.

The Case of Magnolia Dew
is an adaptation of Poe’s short story, The Cask of Amontillado. It is an award-winning film short by George Mirabal, that has appeared in film festivals in the US, Canada and Europe. In this version, we first meet Poe’s Montressor character in his later years. He is an archeology professor at a southern university reminiscing with a college peer about an old schoolmate, Lucky (Poe’s notoriously haughty Fortunato). The recent discovery of human remains during the groundbreaking of a new building prompts a soul-bearing revelation of a fateful night decades earlier. We watch as Lucky is lured by the promise of a fabled antebellum whiskey, Magnolia Dew, to a terrifying fate.
The Masque of the Red Death
The classic Vincent Price/Edgar Allen Poe story where European prince terrorizes the local peasantry while using his castle as a refuge against the “Red Death” plague that stalks the land.

Saturday Sept 30th – Festival of Poe Big Show.This is our once a year variety show which (this year) is inspired by the fantastical tales of Poe. We are proud to include performances by Maria Palacio, Joe Daniels, Ali Harsey, Lula Houp Garou, Taloolah Love, our headline performer Maria Bella and hosted by emcee Sadie Hawkins.
