SCDNR: Sand Stratigraphy

By listening to a story about the formation of an archaeological site over time, participants will create their own archaeological site using a clear plastic jar, colored sand and small “artifacts”.

This STEAM program conducted by a Department of Natural Resources Archaeologist will teach children about the concept of stratigraphy- geological layers in the soil.  By listening to a story about the formation of an archaeological site over time, participants will create their own archaeological site using a clear plastic jar, colored sand and small “artifacts”.
