Play With Your City: Twenty Years of the Columbia Design League

In October 1997, before a packed house in City Council chambers, the Columbia Design League was launched. Igniting a flurry of media attention, James Kunstler, CDL’s inaugural speaker and author of The Geography of Nowhere, loudly admonished Columbians to create a city worthy of their affection. Immediately, the CDL became Columbia’s catalyst for design advocacy, bringing speakers from around the country, sponsoring a national design competition, and spotlighting local designers. Since becoming a CMA affiliate group in 2001, the CDL has continued to bring diverse, dynamic programming to Columbia. Join us for CDL’s annual membership meeting and 20^th anniversary.
