Outside the Box Water Color - Instruction by Katherine Elliott

Watercolor Outside the Box is a non-traditional approach to painting with watercolor. Students will learn creative visual problem solving, letting go of perfectionism and anxiety in order to paint quickly, adapting to “mistakes” in the context of fashion illustration, figurative illustration, and non–objective exercises. Purpose of the class will be to share my top watercolor painting techniques and tips. Students will learn how to paint without overthinking, which is the key hurdle to cover in making successful art. NOTE: This is NOT a fashion illustration class, although at least one exercise will be centered around fashion type sketching. This class will not go over how to draw and accurate figure, or color theory. Class is for ages 16 and older. Class meets on Mondays May 4 – June 15 from 6:30-830 pm at the Columbia Art Center. A materials list will be provided at registration. Class size limited to minimum 4 and maximum 10.
