Liminal Spaces

The bassoon studio at the University of South Carolina, directed by Michael Harley, will present a program called “Liminal Spaces: Chamber Music for Multiple Bassoons,” featuring contemporary music for bassoon quartet and quintet.

Liminal spaces are transitory, transitional zones – in this context, music that straddles multiple musical styles or historical eras or creates a sense of being on the threshold of a new reality. Performed by members of the University of South Carolina bassoon studio and its director, UofSC bassoon professor Michael Harley, Liminal Spaces: Chamber Music for Multiple Bassoons explores the balance between momentary discomfort and transformation.
