Adrian Rhodes’ work is about relationships, and the complexity of closeness – the desire to separate from your past and return to it in the same breath. For Rhodes, print becomes a method for creating structure. This framework, indulging a desire for order, creates space for disruption. Using prints as modular components allows the work to inherit visual information across a body of work. She is interested in how this repetition of imagery and motif reflects recurring thought patterns and an unwillingness to move on.
How to Untie a Tight Knot is on view at 701 CCA until September 1, 2022. Adrian Rhodes will be offering a workshop on pattern printing and its application to wallpaper creation on July 16, 2022 at CCA. There will be a reception and talk by the artist at a date to be announced later in the summer.
For additional information access the 701 CCA website. 701 CCA is located on the second floor of 701 Whaley. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday at 1:00 – 5:00 PM.
