Using Art Objects to Develop Design Thinking Skills

Designed for: elementary (general classroom or art teachers)

With design at its core, this workshop gives an overview of the South Carolina Design Thinking Standards and how art can be infused in cross-curricular design projects. The half-day workshop provides participants with a curator-led tour through the museum’s design gallery and the recently opened Design by Time exhibition, as well as hands-on games and activities that can be modeled and modified for use with students as work collaboratively to develop design thinking mentality.

All materials will be provided. Registration fee includes gallery admission and one set of CMA Person, Place, Product cards. Four hours of professional renewal credit. $25 / $20 for members. Cost is partially subsidized thanks to a grant from Colonial Life.
