i am art’s one-week, all-day Dance in Collaboration Camp provides a platform for children (girls and boys) ages 10-15 years old, to create, learn, express, and lead through the arts.

Throughout the course of the week, the dancers will absorb the technique of contemporary dance, hip-hop, and African movement. Students will also have the opportunity to be exposed to the tools of choreography and not only learn, but participate in the foundations of production and performance.

The students are not required to have prior dance experience for registration. Every student will be instructed from a beginner to intermediate level. However, depending on registration, dancers can be categorized into smaller groups depending on their level of expertise. This will give students the opportunity to dance at his/her own pace and accelerate by learning more choreography and dance techniques.

The composition of i am arts dance camp will not only expose students to a variation of dance styles, it will also teach them to be more communicative leaders of their future. Our mission is to allow dancers to express their emotions through their movements and aspects of artistic design. We love to empower our students and give them a “voice” through the arts. We use leadership building activities to give them a transferable foundation to grow onto.

This years collaboration with IT-oLogy’s Tech in Creative Arts camp, will culminate to a performance presentation that will showcase and tell the story of the work done during the week. Both camps are process driven and the students are not only learning, they are part of the creation process as well.
