Creating a Motanka Doll

Learn How to make Ukrainian Motanka doll that has been a symbol of Ukrainian art for thousands of years.

Historians state that Motanka dolls appeared in Ukraine several thousand years ago. They are symbols of authenticity and feminine wisdom. The use of a needle is forbidden when making the Motanka. Only fabric folding and thread reeling are allowed for this Ukrainian national art form. This workshop will be held at the Columbia Art Center, Saturday Oct. 8 from 10am-12pm, at 1227 Taylor Street.
