Columbia Arts Academy and Jam Room Studio Celebrates Client Appreciation Weekend

Columbia Arts Academy and Jam Room Studio, South Carolina’s largest music school and award-winning record studio, respectively, will host a Client Appreciation Weekend August 7– 9, 2015 at 3630 Rosewood Drive. The event is free and open to the public. The academy will celebrate on Friday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 – 6 p.m.

Jam Room and Columbia Arts Academy owners Jay Matheson and Marty Fort are also celebrating the purchase of the 7,000 square-foot building that house Jam Room Studio and Columbia Arts Academy, which they previously rented for 20 years.

Jam Room

Jam Room Recording Studio opened in 1988 and offers recording, mixing and mastering services as well as small-run duplication orders. The studio provides artists professional audio work used by local and international talent.

“I’m excited to announce that we’re planning a full renovation of both the original Jam Room and the newer Boom Room. There are plans to build a new Mastering room as well. These renovations will allow us to better serve our clients in a true world-class facility,” said Matheson.

The Jam Room will give away recording gift certificates, including mastering for a full-length LP and studio time, and the studio’s new compilation CDs during the weekend. The studio will host a gear swap for musicians on Sunday, Aug. 9 in the evening.

Combined with its sister music school, Lexington School of Music, which Fort also owns, the schools boast more than 1,100 students.

“We pride ourselves on offering the most advanced tools and teaching methods for music lessons in South Carolina,” said Fort. “As owners of the property which we’ve been operating out of for years, we’ll be permanent residents and contributors to the arts community in Columbia. We have more stability and can offer clients more advantages for music lessons.”

The weekend will feature tours of the state-of-the-art facilities at Columbia Arts Academy, which includes practice rooms for music lessons including guitar, piano, voice, drums, bass, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and rock band classes. Technology at the school includes cameras in every practice room and windows for parent viewing, LED monitors in each practice room where students can attach their own devices for enhancing lessons and more.

Open house attendees will also be eligible for door prizes and raffle prizes including an Apple Watch. Face painting and complimentary food and drinks from Marco’s Pizza, Pelican’s SnoBalls, Palmetto Pig and more.
