The Book It! hiking series will be centered on a designated book that will be discussed at the end of each hike.

The first hike of this series will take place along the Capital City Passage of the Palmetto Trail, which runs directly down Main Street Columbia.

Grandma Gatewood’s Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail will be the assigned read for the Nov. 19 hike.

Palmetto Conservation Foundation Members are free. Non-members are $10.

Participants will meet at the entrance of Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park in front of the little red school house at 9 a.m. The hike will finish up at Good Life Café on Main Street where Sharon, owner of the cafe, will give a short talk on good nutrition.
