Begin the morning at the museum at 10:30 a.m. with pastries and coffee sold at a pop-up café, followed by a lecture. Sam Doyle was a self-taught artist from St. Helena Island whose folk art celebrates important people and historical events within the Gullah community. Elijah Heyward III, a Beaufort, S.C., native and Ph.D. candidate in American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, explores the lasting impact of Doyle’s work.
