Alive and Kicking is a dynamic exploration of the history of swing dancing and the lives of its participants. Beginning with the emergence of the Lindy hop, the film follows the development of swing from an American art form to an international phenomenon. Rich with historical and personal insight, Alive and Kicking proposes that at its core swing dancing is about the pursuit of happiness.

The Palmetto Swing Dance Association (PSDA) preserves and advances South Carolina’s contribution to the American art form of swing dance. PSDA was founded in 2008 to serve the community by promoting and providing swing dance events and instruction to people from diverse background.
