Janet Brown

Janet Brown, a Columbia, SC resident for over 30 years. She is pleased to be joining the creative and talented group at Village Artists. After taking classes in the 2000s, watercolor became her favorite medium. As Janet built her own small business and raised a daughter, she continued to paint recreationally.

She holds the 2015 SC State Fair Award in the Amateur Category for her work, Fishing with Daddy. Since retiring in 2020, Janet has been able to immerse herself in art and produced the beautiful and intriguing paintings you see before you. Janet continues to explore the potential of watercolor, and has quickly gained a reputation for the texture and detail she brings to each piece. When you look at her art, she invites you to notice the subtleties, lightness, and depth of color she is able to infuse into her work.
