    Visual Artist: Painting
ARTIST’S STATEMENT I spend several hours a day doing what I have always loved and have dedicated time to these days – painting. As a professor in commercial design and public relations for 30+ years, I didn’t always have the flexibility that I enjoy as a conceptual painter, although I enjoyed telling the stories of organizations, peoples, and communities. With both an art and journalism background, I am as much a storyteller as I am an artist. I enjoy telling my stories as well as those of people I have met along the way. An avid nonfiction reader, I try to incorporate a level of authenticity through descriptive and narrative detail in my paintings as I am writing or retelling a story through my art to give it broader meaning and, consequently, to build relationships. I share my love of art and my skills as an artist to elevate the status of individuals and communities. The most important work I’ve done was commissioned to hang in private homes. Such works include a  painting for a fellow parishioner who could no longer attend  Eucharistic  Adoration as she had done so for years,  so wanted to create a prayer room in her home;  a  painting requested by a  nine-year-old that represented his longing to hug his grandmother while she suffered with the shingles;  and, a  painting from my photographs of neighborhoods in Italy for a  third-generation  Italian family who had never been there;  a  painting for a young woman who has recently been able to purchase a house after living in a  motel for two years. Of equal significance to me  —  five of my paintings hang in the office of a  mental health counselor,  and another one, an office in a  Ronald  MacDonald’s House. My medium of choice is acrylics on canvas. I love experimenting with color and texture and am steadfast to the details and a level of authenticity. Famed author Toni Morrison said, “At some point in life the world’s beauty becomes enough. You don’t need to photograph, paint or even remember it. It is enough,” but until then, I paint! Teacher / Instructor; Visual Artist: Painting
I love to paint. There is a satisfaction in reflecting what is seen onto canvas. Whether it is a beautiful landscape, an interesting person, or a simple object – as long as I am painting I am happy. Canvas, paint, and subject matter. That’s all I need for the perfect day.

Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration; Visual Artist: Painting; Visual Artist: Print / Digital Art / Graphic Design
Portraitist, Live Event Painter, Illustrator. Born and raised in Minnesota and after having traveled a good chunk of the world, I’ve melted into Southern living here in Columbia (it’s hot down here!). I have been drawing and painting since childhood and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to work as an artist. I am a proud member of the Trenholm Artists Guild (TAG) and the U.S. Veteran Artists Association (USVAA). I often paint in a series format, working an idea out in a dozen or more pieces. I happy jump between media: oils, watercolor, ink, and occasionally acrylics. I love to make things pretty and I’m not ashamed to say it. Connecting with people over their pets and being surrounded by celebrating families while painting live at weddings are up there in my favorite experiences. I recently wrapped up my first picture book, The Unknown Soldier, and I am looking for more illustration opportunities, so let me know what is on your mind. Always open for commissions!

Actor; Author / Writer; BIPOC Artist; Musician; Playwright; Poet; Singer; Storyteller; Teacher / Instructor; Visual Artist: Drawing Illustration; Visual Artist: Painting; Visual Artist: Photography
My name is Fatima and I am a veteran of the military. I became an artist upon my separation from the service to help combat my PTSD. Growing up in NYC, i was exposed to broadway, graffiti art, dance culture, creative journalism and many other forms of artistry. Some projects that i have published are an EP by the title of ‘SageTheDay’ which can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. I’ve also self published two books of micro poetry which can be found on Apple Books and Amazon books. My writing incorporates nature, giving it personified characteristics and my painting is impulsive, giving it spiritual properties that tend to tell a soul’s story.
