    Bringing Art Classes to the Children of Africa. Artists for Africa has been established to help support Anno's Africa, a non-profit organization which brings arts classes to children in the slums of Kenya. Local artists based here in South Carolina, are coming together to give their talents to support this incredible cause. For now, the program exists only in Nairobi, but with some help, the goal is to spread the program throughout urban Kenya and someday to other countries in Africa.

FUSE showcases indie talent in visual art, film, fashion design, music, performance art, hair and makeup artistry, and photography. FUSE desire to provide an alternative way for artists to showcase both to their local community and the world-at-large. We are not your average artist , no ! We are uniquely gifted, colorful in our words, creative in our vision and all about our artists.
  • Miriam Barbosa
    Miriam Barbosa
    Choreographer; Dancer
    Ms. Barbosa is the Founder and Artistic Director of South Carolina Contemporary Dance Company. She is a former member of the Martha Graham Dance Company and a former Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of South Carolina. She holds an MFA from the University of Fine Arts of Sao Paulo/Brazil, where she received her classical training. From 1992 to 2002 she collaborated as artistic director and performed for Dzul Dance Company based at the NY Conservatory of Dance. In 1997, Ms. Barbosa and Javier Dzul choreographed several concerts and tours for Emproart, a contemporary dance company based in Brazil. In 1991, she joined the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and was awarded a scholarship as Technique Demonstrator. Ms. Barbosa performed with the Martha Graham American Touring Ensemble from 1993 to 1996, guesting with Martha Graham Dance Company for their City Center Seasons in New York City and Spoleto Festival, Italy (1993-1996). After working as a guest artist in Spain and Brazil for nine months in 1997, she returned to New York to dance with the Martha Graham Dance Company until 2001. Beginning in 1993, Ms. Barbosa taught the Graham technique and choreographed as a guest artist throughout Europe, South America and the United States. She has taught the Graham Technique as a faculty member at Fashion Institute of Technology, SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, Paul Taylor at the School of Performing Arts in NY City, Nevada Festival Ballet, Martha Graham School's Teen Program, Institute of Theater of Barcelona, Spain, Lisbon Dance Co, National Conservatory of Dance of Portugal, the Ginasiano Ballet School, and the Olympic Auditorium in Rome, Italy. From 2002 to 2008, Ms. Barbosa was an Assistant Professor with the USC Department of Theatre and Dance, where she developed numerous choreographies. Ms. Barbosa has been honored with the licenses to restage some of Martha Graham's most famous ballets such as Diversion of Angels, Maple Leaf Rag, and Sketches from Chronicle. During 2007, she collaborated artistically with the Martha Graham Center, ETV, and USC Dance Company to produce Sketches from Chronicle Documentary. Ms. Barbosa also received grants from USCeRA, USC College of Arts and Sciences, SC Arts Commission, Arts Institute, and Knight Foundation for the ETV project. She has collaborated with several artists in the creation of her own masterpieces such as The Seven Deadly Sins and The Divine Comedy with set designer Nic Ularu and Mexican choreographer Brenda Nieto, as well as Catharsis with Argentinean Visual Artist Marcelo Novo. Catharsis was awarded its first grant from the Sumter Arts Commission for its creation in 2005. Ms. Barbosa and Mr. Novo reconstructed the work in 2009 in collaboration with ETV for the arts education program, "Artopia," produced and directed by Betsy Newman. Ms. Barbosa founded South Carolina Contemporary Dance Company (SCCDC) in 2007 and has performed at the Charlotte Dance Festival, the Brazilian Festival in North Carolina, the South Carolina Contemporary Dance Festival and Aerial Dance Festival, Lisbon/Portugal. SCCDC performs its main stage Seasons in Columbia, SC at the Koger Center for the Arts and the Township Auditorium. Ms. Barbosa established the South Carolina School of Contemporary Dance and developed the SCCDC Board and Guild. She is known for performing in non-traditional spaces in collaboration with other arts such as 701 Center for Contemporary Art, CMFA and the Columbia Museum of Art, where she initially choreographed The Chemistry of Contemporary Dance and most recently she has performed for the Museum's Impressionism Exhibition Gala.

    As the FUSE Director of Dance, Davon “J Hit” Bush oversees and manages all dance numbers produced. His love for dance started in middle school when his older brother introduced him to Krump. Before that, he says that he never felt like he could dance. He was more of the classical and visual arts type by writing songs and poetry, playing the viola, and drawing cartoons and comics. Davon continues to create intrinsic movement and dance numbers that he shares locally in Columbia, SC as well as making regular trips around the country to dance hubs such as Los Angeles, California and New York. He says that he see’s himself as a leader in this new generation of movement, and aspires to create more outlets and opportunities in his state for dancers of all styles to grow sharing their gifts.

    To his close friends, Mikey is the man of the hour who people instantly feel comfortable around him and confide in. Mikey created FUSE from the ground up. It started as his vision of artistic harmony. Since he was little, his father played different genres of music around him which he found the many facets that music holds. This inspiration continues to live with him in the projection of his artistic pieces. He says he seeks to create timeless, pieces of work. Mikey is originally from The Bronx, New York.
  • Terrance Henderson

    An International award winning choreographer, Terrance has been the creative force behind Columbia’s own Vibrations Dance Company serving as Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer for over 10 years. Terrance is now also developing independent dance/theater projects under his personal brand T.O. Henderson Dance Incorporated (TO DANCE, Inc) with whom he is presenting his latest original work HOLE IN MY BUCKET: a perspective through dance image word and sound here at the 2013 Rogue Festival. Terrance was the 2009 Artist Fellow for the state in Dance Performance and later that same year received the BRONZE LEO AWARD for Outstanding Jazz Choreography at the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago- a first for a choreographer from South Carolina. A company member at Trustus Theater-South Carolina’s only professional theater, Terrance’s has served as choreographer and director for multiple productions and has been seen as a performer on the main-stage in such shows as Next to Normal, Passing Strange, Smokey Joes Cafe, Hair, and Rent. Terrance is also on the dance faculty at both Columbia Ballet School and Southeastern School of Ballet and has been the long-term artist in residence in the public schools at Logan Elementary where he has been teaching dance and drama now for 15 years.

    Erin Jaffe Bolshakov Director, VISTA Ballroom Executive Director, Mad Hot Tango Marathon, Dancer Erin Jaffe Bolshakov grew up on the stage of the Koger Center dancing with the Columbia City Ballet. Remembered for her roles as Clara in the Nutcracker and Victoria in Dracula. In her high school years, Erin attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Professional Division. Under the coaching of Stanislav Issaev, Erin participated in two major International Ballet Competition, Jackson International Ballet Competition (Jackson, Mississippi), and Varna International Ballet Competition (Varna, Bulgaria), where she was a semi-finalist. Erin was also a Principal member of USC Dance, and danced professionally with Columbia Classical Ballet, where she was a Soloist in the company. In 2005 Erin founded and opened VISTA Ballroom, a studio specializing in Argentine Tango, Salsa, and Ballroom. Concentration on Argentine Tango, Erin has performed in Spoleto Festival with Quintango Orchestra, The SC Philharmonic, The Asheville Philharmonic, and many festivals through out the Southeast. Erin has also produced and directed her own Argentine Tango show, which has been performed in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia, and is the co-creator and Executive Director of the Mad Hot Tango Marathon, which is held annually, attracting Tango dancers from across the country and region. Most recently Erin was an invited guest performer during the National Democratic Convention, 2012, in Charlotte, NC, and was nominated by Jasper Magazine, as Artist of The Year, In Dance.

    Hillary Krieger-Toth has over 25 years of classical ballet experience. She began her dance training at the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, studying under the expert guidance of well-respected dance instructors such as: John Magnus, Eleanor D’Antuono, and Francesca Corkle. Her training continued at the Walnut Hill School of Performing Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. Shortly thereafter, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah, one of the country’s leading ballet programs, with highly esteemed instructors such as: Conrad Ludlow, Attila Ficzere, Bene Arnold, Sharee Lane, Maureen Laird, and Richard Wacko. Krieger has attended numerous summer dance programs including: Boston Ballet, BalletMet, and the Joffrey Summer Workshop in San Antonio, Texas. Following graduation, Krieger-Toth continued her training at the Greensboro Ballet Company as a professional dancer and full-time instructor, after which she then lent her expertise to Columbia Classical Ballet for two years as a performer, choreographer and teacher. Krieger-Toth is completely trained in the Cecchetti, Vaganova and French styles of classical ballet, as well as in diverse styles of modern and international character folk dance. She is also a certified pilates mat instructor. Krieger-Toth has participated in numerous public outreach activities, including teaching ballet classes for an after-hours school program. She has performed in local venues all over Columbia.

    We are Tab&Kait, two artists in Columbia, SC, who teach, choreograph, perform and participate in nonprofit projects such as the Painted Brain and Alternate Roots. In 2020, we co-founded and began directing dance collective– IGNITED, an initiative to make adult dance more accessible in the midlands! We also train pre-professional dancers at local studios and work as guest artists at schools & studios. We annually host “FLOW,” our drop-in masterclasses & produce TKDesigns where you can design and create customized clothing & gifts. With Tab&Kait Productions, we create dance films such as “MERGENCE” & We are always looking for new ways to collaborate and create with our community!

    Gabor Toth, co-owner, co-artistic director and founder of Southeastern School of Ballet, began his formal dance training at the world-renowned Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest,Hungary. Toth is trained extensively in the arts of ballet, folk dance, acrobatics, stage dance, acting, historical dance,pantomime, partnering and contemporary dance. Upon graduation, he was awarded a scholarship to the School of Alicia Alonso in Madrid, Spain, where he received instruction in Spanish folk dance and classical ballet. Following this, Toth made his American debut as an intern with the Greensboro Ballet Company, where he perfected his knowledge of American techniques, styles and choreography. Toth has utilized his extensive knowledge of movement with some of the most accomplished dance companies in the world, including: Music World, a national dance festival and competition in Fivizzano, Italy performances in “Majismo” and “El Gran Baile” in Madrid, Spain “AIDA” in Budapest, Hungary In spring 2000 he came to Carolina Ballet to be in the premiere productions of Lynne Taylor-Corbett’s Cabaret. Lynne Taylor-Corbett is known for her work in theatre, ballet and film. She was nominated for Tony Awards for her direction and choreography of Broadways Swing! and for two American Theatre Wing Star Awards for its National Tour. She choreographed Chess and Titanic on Broadway and the feature films Footloose, My Blue Heaven and Vanilla Sky. Her ballets have been commissioned by New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet. Toth’s experience includes professional productions of both contemporary and classical ballets. During his two-year stay as a dancer and instructor at Columbia Classical Ballet, Toth played a vital role in choreographing dance sequences for “The Nutcracker”, “Jekyll and Hyde” and “Lifechance”.
