Artist Statement

The first medium I explored as a very young child was Lead Pencil on Interior Pages of Father's Large 1933 Dictionary. I have been blessed with a Dyslexic/ADD-type mind. I like to consider trivial objects and concepts and present them for others to observe from a different perspective. I tend to annoy people with my questions. Creativity thrives on input. The majority of my childhood was spent day-dreaming. The majority of my adulthood is spent day-dreaming. My paintings usually depicts how a subject or experience makes me feel at a particular moment. I assume that my work generates unique feelings from within the observer that may be different than mine. I prefer movement in everything I do, say, and create. I was designed to exist beyond the shadow of the box, somewhere on the other side of the left field fence. It is there that I feel the most comfortable with my thought process and creativity. I have no desire to be near the box with everyone else. I believe this is reflected in my work and creative thought process. I don't paint a subject, I paint the feelings generated within me based on the subject or experience. I feel that the end product causes observers of my work to consider those subconscious feelings generated within themselves that they might not otherwise recognize. I imagine that they don't even realize that they are doing it. It's similar to liking something but not knowing why you like it.
