701 CCA advances through education and programming the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of contemporary art, the creative process and art’s and artists’ role in the community.

The center allows artists to develop, create and exhibit contemporary art by making available a studio for artists in residence and exhibition space as part of a creative environment in which artists can concentrate on their art for a sustained time and with adequate resources. The center encourages interaction between the visual arts and performing, literary and media arts.

A great way to be involved with 701 Center for Contemporary Art is to be a volunteer. 701 CCA is largely a volunteer-based organization, and those interested in contemporary art are encouraged to become a 701 CCA volunteer.

701 CCA relies on committed people who are willing to share their expertise, knowledge, skills and experience to the benefit of the center and the community. In return, volunteers are exposed to contemporary art on a regular basis and receive the benefit of interacting with other contemporary art enthusiasts as well as artists and other arts professionals. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Hannah Shepard at director701cca@gmail.com or (803) 319-9949.
